Overlooking the Tralee Bay, on the famous Wild Atlantic Way, the Oyster Tavern is the perfect setting for any get-together. The WAW is a breathtaking beautiful route along Ireland's magnificent coastline. Enjoy a meal after a round of golf (Tralee Golf Club is just a few minutes drive away) sitting outside as the sun sets over the bay, or gather friends together for a celebratory meal.
We are situated in 'The Spa'-pronounced as the 'Spaw' which is a small scenic village with plenty of charm between Tralee Town and Fenit on the R558.
Dating back to the 18th Century where there was a large English population in the district and many visitors came to take the waters of the local sulphur spring. This spring well gives the Spa area its local name.
It was a popular place to visit by Kerry people and was near the south-western corner of the field that is now the playing ground of County Kerry Cricket Club.
At this time, the means of getting to the well from Tralee was the shoreline as the road to the north of the club was not then in place. The road to the west was there and people heading onward and up to Lassinagh (beyond the Oyster Tavern) went up along this.
We are 10/15 min drive from Ireland's top 10 beaches Banna Strand and Ballyheigue Beach. Cockleshell beach is a short walk across the road where couples can go for a romantic stroll after their meal or get the family together after lunch to pick shells and take in the views.
The famous North Kerry Way walking trail passes through the Spa also.

The local GAA football team 'Churchill' (proudly sponsored by the Oyster Tavern) also play in the nearby field only a few minutes away.
County Kerry Cricket Pitch named 'The Oyster Oval' is across the road also. The cricket ground boasts stunning views across the Tralee Bay and it is arguably the most scenic pitch in Ireland!
We are less than a 9minute drive (7kms distance) from the world famous 'Tralee Golf Club' known as Arnold Palmer's Jewel.
